Fall Derby at the Vineyard Presented by Paradox Country Farm

Experience a hunter derby horse show like no other! What is a Hunter Derby? A two-round horse jumping competition. Both rounds typically include natural fences reminiscent of the hunt field, such as stone walls, logs, brush jumps, white board fences, post-and-rail jumps, gates or coops.

Please note this is a TICKETED event. All spectators will be REQUIRED to purchase General Admission tickets or Premier Seating tickets. General Admission tickets and Premier Seating tickets will be offered in two different time blocks: 9:30am - 1:30pm OR 2:00pm-6:00pm. Guests must vacate the premise before or at the end of each time block. The derby will be visible from ALL areas of our lawn. Spectators are not permitted to enter the vineyard area where the actual event is taking place (with the exception of family and friends of riders, whom may watch from a designated area inside the vineyard).

General Admission Tickets - $10.00 per person: Access to the General Admission seating area. Tables in this area are first come, first serve. We strongly recommend bringing your own chairs or blankets. **Tents, umbrellas, and large tables are not permitted.** Please inquire with questions about what is permitted. Children 5 years of age or younger do not require tickets.

Premier Seating Tables - $60.00 per table: Premier seating tables are in a separate area than General Admission section. These tables are specifically reserved and have the best view of the event. Premier seating tables provide entry and seat a maximum of 4 guests. There is a two table limit per party. For example, if you have 6 guests and want premier seating, two tables must be purchased. **General Admission ticket holders are not permitted in the premier seating section.** Additional tables, chairs, umbrellas, tents and/or blankets are not permitted in this area. Please inquire with questions about what is permitted. 

 

More Event Details:

  • Dogs (with the exception of service dogs) are NOT allowed during this event.
  • Wine will be available for purchase by the glass or bottle throughout the day. **Wine tastings will not be available during this event.** Mimosas made with freshly squeezed orange juice will be available from 9:30am-12:00pm or while supplies last. We also sell local canned beer, hard cider and a selection of local cheeses, meats, crackers, etc.
  • Outside alcohol is not permitted on Penns Woods property. All coolers are subject to inspection.
  • We strongly encourage all guests to support our local food trucks that will be attending the event. 
  • There will be an award for Best Dressed group of the day! Though this is not a horse race (like the Kentucky Derby), we encourage dressing in your best derby day attire.
  • We have a designated smoking area on site. Smoking is not permitted in general public areas.
  • Parking is very limited. We highly recommend carpooling if possible.
  • There will be a meet and greet area to pet and take pictures with friendly horses and derby participants. We encourage you to tag us in all of your exciting photos from the day!
  • Penns Woods Winery reserves the right to alter policies for this event to adhere to CDC and state covid regulations or mandates. We strongly encourage all unvaccinated guests to wear face coverings.
  • No tailgating is permitted during this event. 

 

Are you a rider interested in participating? Click here to enter. Online entries begin August 1st! All riders participating in the derby will receive 4 General Admission tickets with their entry.
 

Due to the outdoor nature of this event featuring horses, for horse and rider safety; this is a weather dependent event and is subject to cancellation. In the event of inclement weather and cancellation, all ticket holders will be notified of any changes. The rain dates are October 2nd and 3rd. **Tickets are non refundable, but may be transferred to the rain date.**
